Tokyo Street with the Fuji x100s

Recently my family and I vacation in Tokyo for a few days. If you love street photography Tokyo is complete sensory overload. Everywhere I looked I saw photos.

Asakusa is one of the many tourist spots in Tokyo, so street here feels a little different, but I managed to get a few while we were in the area.

Something about hats and umbrellas that catches my eye every time. I love them.

Of course no post about street photography in Tokyo is complete without a couple shots from Harajuku. The crowds were a little lighter the day we were there, but I still managed to shoot some while waiting on my wife and daughter shopping.

I usually don't like out of focus photos, although sometimes it does work well. When your walking around Tokyo you can feel the energy of the city, so even though some of my shots were out of focus I felt like they conveyed the feeling of being there perfectly.

These too shots below are a couple of my favorites in Ebisu, shot in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography. The first image is the display of photos outside the entrance, and the second is of a man in the same spot walking off into the outside light. I never moved from the spot I was standing for both images.

Shooting street in Tokyo was exactly as I imagined it would be, and I can't wait to go back and do it again. I have more photos from my time in Tokyo coming in an upcoming post. I'll compare photos I took in 1982 with photos from this last trip. Until then, thanks for visiting.
