Washed up Puffer

Found this little guy this afternoon while walking on the beach with my daughter. He's missing his tail but still looked kind of cool.

Softening your Pop-Up Flash

Browsing around today on B&H Photo (as I do far more than I should) and I discovered a diffusion product from Lumiquest that I thought was pretty cool.  The LumiQuest Soft Screen Diffuser is an inexpensive diffuser for the pop-up flash found on many pro-consumer cameras from Canon and Nikon.  If you don't have a dedicated flash unit or find yourself without yours at some point this little diffuser that could may save the day.

While I wouldn't expect studio quality light it could make just enough difference to soften the look from the standard pop-up.

Stairs to Katsuren Castle

If you follow my work you know how much I love black and white, however some photos are just better in color.  This shot of an Okinawan women holding an umbrella to shield herself from the sunlight descending the sharp stairs of Katsuren Castle ruins is one of them.
